    gavincastleton:

This is the fifth songs from my Won Over Frequency Fundraiser. The lyrics for this piece were inspired by Maya Peart’s recounting of the life and death of her beloved Bullmastiff, Hannah. Read more about the song-writing process here: http://gavincastleton.blogspot.com

    bluprint:

At the time I was waiting tables at Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando, FL. I was a cocktail waitress in the VIP lounge, which is Jimi Hendrix themed. I think staring at music memorabilia all day probably soaked my brain with that vibe. One day as I was leaving to go to work I saw a pile of cassette tapes laying on top of a canvas I had set near my door. I thought, “What ghosts could be hiding in those machines?” I pulled out the ribbon and tried to work with it, making some writing. I watched the ribbon curl up and it reminded me of Jimi Hendrix’s crazy hair, so that was the first portrait I made. I had never sold a piece of artwork. But selling was never that important… discovering is the fun part. by Erika Iris

OK Tumblrrrrs, check this thing out.

We made it at work, and it should do really well on your IPHONE/IPAD/ANDROID, chrome/safari on a desktop/laptop, but not Firefox :(

It’ll look for music based on your area and play it. Let me know if it sucks. I love it, even if Ithaca’s local music sometimes sucks.

New comic! Whipped this one up after an idea I had in the shower - where all the good ideas happen. Poor guy just got his sunrise and magma swell times mixed up.

    ruthakers:

The first time I ran outside and saw my shadow, I saw so much more than 6 more weeks of winter.
I saw a body I’ve been literally trying to run from for 10 years, I saw a middle aged woman attempting to forget the comments “You’d be cute if you weren’t fat.” “Are you funny because you’re overweight?” “You’re probably the healthiest fat girl I know”
I saw the faces of all the guys who had ever overlooked me because of what I might look like on the outside.
I saw the day my dad told me my sister was the pretty one and I should stick to what I was good at.
I saw the people who overlooked me because I didn’t stick out in the way that my friends, my beautiful perfect friends, always had.
The first time I ever ran outside, I saw all of those things.
Now when I run outside, the only thing I see is that at least I’m STILL running.

The Great Abstraction: The burrito business is not for the weak

    gavincastleton:

Imagine that you spend 15 years, half of your life, developing the ultimate recipe for a breakfast burrito. You sell everything you own to fund the process; you work around the clock, 7 days a week, fine-tuning this recipe and building a small storefront where you can sell these burritos. You call…

    Pull Focus

Alright internet, a new theme is up, and you should probably submit your photos here (even if you think they’re crap, and they just might be crap but send it anyway). Each week we’re cranking out new themes and posting a BIG HUGE PHOTO from the previous week’s theme. It is fun.
